2021 Lexus UX or 2021 Lexus NX, Which is Right for You?
December 20 2022,
The Lexus UX and Lexus NX are the smaller members of the Lexus SUV family. Both vehicles look quite similar with their modern Lexus style while emphasizing hybrid efficiency, performance, and advanced amenities that make them popular among their segments. That said, both have also been improved in recent years with the NX getting a complete redesign last year. The UX also got some significant improvements and it is the only small SUV to offer a standard hybrid powertrain in the luxury segment. Both have a lot to offer. Here we look at how they differ from each other.
There are size and capacity differences between the Lexus UX and Lexus NX
The UX is the most compact vehicle in this comparison with its subcompact classification. Being around 200 mm less in length than the NX, it fits into tight urban spaces. The compact NX features a slightly larger cargo capacity (up to 501 liters) with its larger dimensions, and this also translates into more occupant room. Although both perform well in congested areas, the UX is the smaller of the two vehicles.
The powertrain differences between the Lexus UX and Lexus NX
The NX includes more powerful engine choices than the UX, adapting to its slightly larger size and boosting performance when needed. The new powertrain lineup in the NX family includes:
- Base 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque
- Available 2.4-litre turbo with 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque
- Available base hybrid engine wth 240 hp
- Available plug-in hybrid with over 60 kilometres of range
The UX offers the best efficiency in this comparison. The standard hybrid engine in the UX 250h offers 181 horsepower with a fuel consumption rating of just 5.7/6.2 L/100 km. When efficiency is most important, the UX is the best choice.
