2022 Lexus Hybrid and PHEV Vehicle Lineup Overview
April 20 2022,
Of all the luxury automakers, Lexus is by far the brand with the most luxury hybrid vehicles on the market. Lexus offers multiple hybrid sport utility vehicles as well as hybrid luxury sedans and this year, the automaker is also bringing a new plug-in hybrid version of the redesigned Lexus NX.
With the rising cost of fuel, more and more consumers are interested in finding ways to lower the fuel consumption of their vehicle without having to sacrifice comfort and refinement. The Lexus hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicle lineup certainly will do that. Let's take a look at some of the hybrid and PHEV 2022 Lexus vehicles on sale today.
2022 Lexus hybrid luxury sedans
There aren't many luxury hybrid sedans on the market, but you will find two of them in the 2022 Lexus lineup, the 2022 Lexus ES 300h and the 2022 Lexus LS 500h.
2022 Lexus ES 300h
The 2022 Lexus ES 300H features a 2.5 L four-cylinder engine that delivers 176 horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with an electric motor that delivers 88 KW for a total output of 215 horsepower. The electric motor is powered by a 1.6 kilowatt hour battery which assist the powertrain with various functions in order to reduce fuel consumption. The result is a premium luxury sedan that has an average fuel consumption rate of 5.5 L per 100km in the city and 5.2 L per 100 km on the highway.
2022 Lexus LS 500h
The 2022 Lexus LS 500h is one of the most luxurious and refined cars on the market. It offers exceptional and unrivaled comfort with one of the quietest interiors you will find in the industry today. The hybrid engine in the LS500h also delivers plenty of power with 354 total horsepower. This engine is enough to power the full-size luxury sedan to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds but the most impressive thing about this premium luxury vehicle is the fuel economy. The 2022 Lexus LS 500h has an average fuel consumption rating of just 8.1 L per 100km on the highway and less than 10 L per 100 km overall.
2022 Lexus hybrid SUVs
With four hybrid luxury SUVs in its line up including two hybrid versions of the fully redesigned 2022 Lexus NX, the Lexus SUV lineup blends luxury and efficiency like no other automaker can.
2022 Lexus UX
The 2022 Lexus UX not only offers a hybrid engine, but it is the only SUV in its segment to come standard with an electrified powertrain. The engine delivers an impressive 181 horsepower but the fuel economy is even more remarkable with an average of 5.7 L per 100km in the city. For an SUV with nearly 500 litres of cargo space, this is simply remarkable.
2022 Lexus NX
The 2022 Lexus NX has been fully redesigned this year. It is more spacious, more comfortable and refined, and packed with more technology. It also gets new hybrid powertrains including the new Lexus NX 350h which now delivers 240 horsepower. This is a significant upgrade over the outgoing Hybrid engine and yet you still average less than 6 L per 100km overall and just 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres in the city.
And then there's the all new 2022 Lexus NX 450h+. This new version is a plug-in hybrid which delivers 302 horsepower and a remarkable 62 km of range from a 18.1-kWh battery. This new battery can charge in just 2.5 hours and the NX450h delivers more range than any other luxury or mainstream plug-in hybrid SUV.
2022 Lexus RX
The Lexus RX was the first mid-size luxury SUV to offer a hybrid powertrain and it continues to be one of the few in the segment. The 2022 Lexus RX450h delivers 308 horsepower which is remarkable, but the fuel economy rating is even more impressive. The new RX450h averages under 8.0 litres per 100 kilometres.
