Everything you need to know about the 2022 Lexus RX

The Lexus RX was the pioneer of luxury midsize SUVs when it launched more than two decades ago and continues today as one of the benchmarks of the segment. Earlier this month, Lexus launched the 2022 Lexus RX, the latest model-year for the popular sport utility vehicle that manages to blend comfort and performance almost to perfection.

“The RX series established the luxury SUV segment and has become our all-time most popular model, and when you experience the RX it’s easy to appreciate why,” said Martin Gilbert, Director of Lexus in Canada. “With a choice of two- and three-row models, both offered with a choice of conventional gasoline or advanced self-charging hybrid models, there’s an RX for every Guest looking for an SUV that makes every journey as enjoyable as the destination.”

The 2022 Lexus RX is offered in 17 different configurations, ensuring that everyone finds the perfect RX for their needs. The RX comes in two body styles with space for five or seven passengers, offers two engine options including a popular and efficient hybrid model, and offers distinct trims including sportier F SPORT configurations.

The Lexus RX 350 and RX 350 L are powered by a 3.5-litre V6 that delivers 295 horsepower. This engine has proven its reliability time and time again, offering owners a smooth powertrain that delivers the performance they want while also being reliable and surprisingly efficient with an average fuel economy rating of just 10.8 litres per 100 kilometres.

Of course, the king of efficiency within the Lexus RX lineup is the Lexus RX 450h also offered as the RX 450h L. Using an Atkinson Cycle 3.5-litre V6, a continuously variable automatic gearbox and electric motors, this engine offers 308 horsepower while averaging just 7.9 litres per 100 kilometres.

The L models come with an extended wheelbase that can fit two extra seats in the third row. The RX is available in five-, six-, and seven-seat configurations.
