Here are the Lexus Safety Systems that Keep You Safe on the Road

Every Lexus vehicle comes standard with a version of the Lexus Safety System + (LSS+) which is a suite of active safety features that help prevent many types of accidents. Here are the different versions of this system found in the current Lexus lineup.

LSS+

The basic Lexus Safety System + includes many advanced features such as the pre-collision system with daytime pedestrian detection which helps avoid a collision with vehicles or pedestrians by automatically applying the brakes or the Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, which monitors the lane markings and applies steering force to keep the vehicle between those markings. The automatic high beams and the dynamic cruise control are also part of this standard safety suite.

LSS+ 2.0

Many Lexus vehicles are equipped with a more advanced version of the LSS+ system called LSS+ 2.0. This system adds capabilities to the basic version, such as the low light pedestrian detection and daytime cyclist detection for the pre-collision system or the Lane Tracing Assist, which can keep the vehicle centred in its lane, even on curvy highways. The dynamic cruise control is also enhanced in order to work at all speeds, which means that the vehicle can come to a stop and start again automatically to follow the vehicle in front.

LSS+ 2.5 and LSS+ 3.0

The latest versions of the Lexus Safety System are the LSS+ 2.5 and LSS+ 3.0 versions. These two iterations are similar in many ways since both include the intersection support as well as the emergency steering assist, the Lane Tracing Assist with enhanced lane recognition and the all-speed dynamic cruise control with curve speed management. Where the 3.0 system differs is by the addition of some features such as the road sign assist and the intelligent high beam headlamps, which adapt their lighting pattern to prevent glare while keeping the high beams activated, even when other vehicles are on the road.

LSS+ A

Reserved to the flagship LS, the LSS+ A system features all of the latest safety technologies from Lexus, such as the front cross-traffic alert, the front lateral side pre-collision system Active Steering Assist and the Lexus Co-Drive, which combines the Lane Tracing system with the All-speed dynamic cruise control in order to limit the driver’s tasks on long highway drives. This system can even perform autonomous lane changes after verifying it is safe to do so.
