Lexus finishes in the top five in 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

Lexus finished fifth overall in the latest 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. The results were announced a few weeks ago with Lexus reaching a higher score than any other Japanese or German luxury automaker including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Acura.

When it comes to determining which vehicles offer the best initial quality, J.D. Power focuses on consumers who purchased their vehicles within the past 90 days. A comprehensive overview of initial vehicle quality was made possible by speaking with over 80,000 owners this year.

In the survey, consumers are asked 223 questions about the initial quality of their new purchase. J.D. Power then takes that data and combines it to get a final score representing the number of problems experienced in a given vehicle in the first three months. The number of problems are expressed as a function of 100 vehicles.

With just 156 problems per 100 vehicles, Lexus finished fifth overall and well ahead of the average of 180 problems per 100 vehicles. Moreover, the Lexus IS finished first its segment ahead of the BMW 3 Series and the Genesis G70.

Lexus has historically done very well in the J.D. Power IQS study and the organization's other well-known study, the J.D. Power Dependability Study. If you are interested in a luxury brand that delivers exceptional reliability to go along with premium tech and refinement, give us a call today!
